Are showers ok for destination weddings?

I am planning to get married on a cruise ship and only our immediate family will be in attendance. Is it ok to have a shower anyway?

Showers are usually thrown by bridesmaids or family. It would be odd for you to plan your own. Why don’t you throw a party to celebrate your marriage when you get back or at a time that is more convenient. You can register, or just let people bring gifts.
