How to have a really cheap wedding?

Me and my partner of nearly 4 years are planning to get married either next year or next
any ideas on how to do this cheaply i mean under £1000
please no nasty comments, the marriage is more important to us then the wedding
i already know where i can get a pretty cake (marks and spencers )
and a lovely dress that i can pay for weekly (little woods)
i am mainly struggling on the reception
does anyone know where i can get cheap decorations, centre pieces flowers etc

I too am trying to plan a wedding as cheaply as possible, so I know both the strain and the stigma (its worrying how much debt people start their married lives with!)
Ebay is a good place to start. Try party stores don’t just look in the wedding section the general party/ birthday sections can have often nearly the same thing but minus the wedding price tag.
And get creative, make your favours (cookies maybe especially if your not having a cake) or try making cake pops they look great and are easy and cheap to make even if your a baking novice and are way fun to make with all your girls for a night in!

If you theme it with the season your having it in you can take flowers from yours and your family/friends gardens or from a woodland. Nature doesn’t charge a penny!

Look at the styles you like and then research doing them your self.

I have an elaborate forest theme to plan its a lot of work but it will look amazing and will be about 20 grand cheaper than most weddings.

The cheapest thing you can do though to make your day special is all in your ceremony, I agree that is the most important part so personalise it as much as you see fit too, thats what everyone will remember anyway!
