Ideas for a black, yellow, and white wedding?

First, it WON’T look like a bumblebee. My wedding this past August was white and yellow, and you can’t help but use black too. We also used Gold as a metallic accent and it was gorgeous! (email me and I can show you some pictures)

Secondly, do not, do not, DO NOT do black bridesmaids dresses! I have been to several weddings where this was done, and it dosen’t look good. Black is a color of mourning, not one of celebration! My bridesmaids wore dresses in a color called Maize- it was a deeper yellow/ goldish color (no, they were not metallic). I was afraid to do this at first, but my sister’s blond hair actually matched the dress, and it looked really cool. All the girls really liked the color, actually. The guys wore black suits with tiny pinstripes and Maize colored vests underneath. They were so handsome! None of them complained one bit. It looked so nice on everyone. I had actually wanted to go with my favorite color, pink, but the finace had issues with that!

Third, the yellow really pops against the black and white! It’s such a happy looking color too. I used different shades of yellow from pale and buttery to rich-looking deep yellow. Really went well for a candlelight reception too. All the yellow made the room look so warm and inviting.

I think with a little careful planning you will be able to come up with a beautiful color palette for your wedding, and it’s definetly a color that your guests won’t expect either! Mine are STILL talking about how pretty our wedding was! (and it seems to us that every wedding movie we see now has yellow flowers, yellow ties, yellow something in it, so I have to point out to my husband- “See how fashion-forward we were?!”)
